I have cutaneous PAN for nearly 3 years. In that period from time to time I was on steroids & imuran. On Jan 1st this year I began to take Cytoxan 100 mg per day, ( I gave up taking imuran on 26 th Dec 2005)but only for 10 days as my liver functions worsen.
Watch this out now: My wife told me that she is pregnant 10 days ago. (it was really an accident!) When she got pregnant, I was not on any drugs. However the rheumotologist told me that the spermatogenesis is 75 days (that means your body began to form your current sperms 75 days ago).
For my case, that means for the first 15 days of the baby sperms they faced the toxic of Imuran, and after 5 days they had interaction with Cytoxan for only 10 days. I am now scared when I think of possible risks (birth defect etc) In literature I could not find enough material about the subject. It is clear that Cytoxan is harmful at the beginning of pregnancy, but for sperms?
My wife's doc says the risk is minimal. We even asked a genetics doctor and he told the same. However we don't feel comfortable. On the other hand, we don't want to kill an innocent life with abortion.
Please help...I really appreciate your comments It is a matter of an innocent's life....
Best regards,
Mehmet Bulut

Re: PD Reinhold-Keller I need your help !!!
Hallo!
There are no data about pregnancies from male patients under medications such imuran or cyclophosphamid.....I am sorry. All data come from women taking drugs.
If you dont feel uncomfortable, you have to make a descision.
Best wishes
