Hello everyone. My name is Alperen and I am 24 years old. I graduated from industrial engineering this year. I was diagnosed on February 6, 2023 and I have been receiving treatment every day since then until the date I am writing this e-mail to you today, 11.03.2025. At first, I started having pain in my back and I wanted my family members to massage my back. This pain, which occurred exactly behind my lungs, started to occur in the area where my kidneys are a few days later. Then I went to the hospital thinking that I might have kidney stones and the check-ups did not reveal any problems. When I woke up the next day, this pain in my hip was almost preventing me from walking. After seeing a physiotherapist, he gave me a painkiller injection and sent me away. !!! In fact, all of the problems up to this point were due to the displacement of a clot in my vein!!! Then I had this injection and went to sleep. When I woke up the next day, I was completely unable to walk and was taken from my home to the hospital by ambulance. During the check-ups, it was seen that the vein in my right leg was blocked from my groin area to my kneecap and that there were platelets in my lungs.
They told me I needed an angiogram immediately and I was put on the waiting list for surgery, but since the surgery line was taking too long and I had a very painful night, we decided to go to another hospital ourselves. To describe the pain, I was given morphine or any other painkiller you can think of every hour, but my pain would go away for a short while and then come back. I wanted to rip my leg off. Anyway, after leaving the hospital at around 3 a.m., while I was on the way to that hospital, my mother's friend called me and said that we should go to "Istanbul Cerrahpasa Hospital" and that night I was admitted to the emergency room of Cerrahpasa Hospital. The next morning, my doctor, Prof. Dr. Emire Seyahi, told me that I might have Behcet's disease and diagnosed me with this disease after the tests were done. At first, they gave me Remicade every 6 weeks, Deltacortin and blood thinner injections. I am currently using the Humira Pen injection every 2 weeks and I am taking 3 pills of Imuran and 1 blood thinner pill of Eliquis every day.
In my country of residence, Türkiye, the government provides me with these medications free of charge in 3-month doses. However, I want to do my master's degree in Germany soon. I have been accepted to several schools for this and I have a visa process ahead of me. However, I do not know if I will be able to access these medications and the necessary treatment in Germany, and I have concerns about this. Can I access these medications (Humira Pen, Eliquis, Imuran) in Germany? If you could inform me about the average cost of the treatment and medications, I would be very happy.
Thank you.
Best regards.
