My Experience with Interferon

Sideeffects less disagreeable

by Hansjoerg Hubrich

In April 1997 I was diagnosed with Churg-Strauss-Syndrome by way of a biopsy. I was admitted to a ward specialized in treating vasculitis at Bad Bramstedt Clinic early in December 1997 After a thorough examination I got nine infusions with Endoxan. They were given in a three-week rhythm and were supposed to allay my troubles: when walking I had to consciously lift my left leg ( I had developed a foot-drop) and I sufferd from severe pain in my feet. After the sixth infusion I could start walking normally again and the pain had decreased to a level I could bear. I was curious as to what medication would follow. A month later the treating physicians decided to put me on Interferon.
